Long before the Dutch settled in the place now known as Astoria and Long Island City, Native Americans called this rich land home. The name Sunswick derives from the local Native American word Sunskisq, meaning place of the chiefs wife. The area around the Sunswick Creek, which ran from the East River straight to Astoria, has always proven to be a place where community thrives. Today at Sunswick we remember that warm sense of community and invite you to step away from the hassles of the day and enjoy your neighborhood home away from home.
Sunswick 35-35, located at the corner of 35th Avenue and 35th Street in Queens, was established in late 2005 under new ownership. After careful restoration and a lot of TLC, we are proud to offer 25 beers on tap, some not-so typical pub-grub, and a knowledgeable staff dedicated to friendly service. Voted best bar in Astoria by WhyleaveAstoria.com, Sunswick has proven itself to be a beer powerhouse, with an ever-changing line-up of 25 craft beers on draft and a wide selection of specialty bottled beers. Our atmosphere is undeniable cozy and comfortable. Weekly trivia night, karaoke, game night, live music and monthly beer festivals are sure to keep you entertained. Musicians, actors, local workers and all people young-at-heart will certainly appreciate the energy of the Swick.
Often described as a hidden gem in Astoria, weve found that once people discover us, they have a hard time staying away. Visitors to Astoria and locals alike inevitably make Sunswick their own neighborhood bar. Whether you come for the drinks, the food, the service, the atmosphere or the entertainment, you are sure to enjoy the friendly, laid-back environment here at Sunswick.
With the abundance of good beer, good food and good people, the Swick soars far above the restOur 25 taps gets you through the door. Our family first philosophy keeps you coming back again and again.
